With Easter just around the corner and some fantastic ideas out there, we thought we would have an Easter therapy ideas round up this week!
I found this idea via pinterest from pink and green mama. A simple idea that can target both comprehension and expression of colours and at a simpler level, colour matching. You could start by holding a yolk and asking your child to find an egg that’s the same. Once they can achieve this easily, you can ask for a ‘yellow’ egg and yolk and see if they can find a colour on demand. Then you can hold up a coloured egg and ask them to name the colour.
This was another pinterest find from little learning for 2. I LOVE this idea! It does sound a little like getting a ship in a bottle to get the items inside the balloon, but you can target so many areas of speech and language development. You have the concepts of cold and wet, adjective work e.g. describing the ice and objects, it is smooth, rough, melting etc. Then there is the science element and vocabulary of the water changing state into a solid and then back into a liquid as it melts. Plus the vocabulary element of the objects you put inside. If you were very organised you could even targets specific speech sounds if you could find enough small items with the sound you were working on to put in the balloons!
There are some great Easter and egg themed ideas on this blog, covering vocabulary, pragmatics and articulation. Also some easy easter egg hunt ideas! Go and check it out.
For more ideas on using language in your Easter egg hunts, look at our post from last Easter here.
These are the ideas that caught my eye this year and the best thing is you could use these ideas all year round, not just at Easter! What Easter themed games do you use in therapy?
